Why did the client contact us?

The client got in touch because they wanted to turn their plain back garden in Watford into a space to entertain and relax. They were looking for a unique design that would combine a patio for socialising and a lawn for unwinding. They also wanted a view of the grass from their conservatory. They wanted that to be combined with visual interest and character in their garden.

We worked closely with them to create a design that would incorporate a patio and turf. The clients were keen on something that broke away from the usual rectangular patio shape and incorporated a curved, flowing shape to soften the space. Our patio contractors suggested a brick border to add a touch of classic charm and define the patio’s edge.

What work was done?

What we actually did was shape the patio area with care to create that fluid, organic curve which flowed seamlessly into the turf area. We levelled the ground to give the patio and the lawn a solid foundation.

We laid a high-quality sub-base for the patio, then carefully placed the paving stones to create that curved shape. Next, we installed the brick border. This added a warm, rustic touch and defined the patio’s perimeter.

We prepared the rest of the area so it could be turfed. Then we laid premium turf to create a green lawn that complemented the patio’s design.

Were there any issues?

We didn’t encounter any major issues during the project. The client was over the moon with the final result, praising the garden’s unique design and how seamlessly the patio and turf worked together.
